Cigarette smokers are constantly faced with criticism and health warnings. Here are 5 things that are true about cigarette smoking.

1. Cigarettes Cause Cancer
Smoking cigarettes has been proven to cause cancer. When tobacco is burned, thousands of chemicals are generated. It is these chemicals that are responsible for cancers and cardiovascular diseases. Lung cancer, for example, is the most prevalent type of cancer and is primarily a result of cigarette smoking.

2. Cigarettes Are Expensive
Traditional cigarettes contain filters, papers, and tobacco leaves. With all the advertising, lobbying, and branding thrown into the mix, the cost of putting cigarettes on the market has never been higher before. On top of that, consumers are burdened by heavy tobacco taxes. Sin tax, as some may call it, is considered as a pretty unfair tax in this free country.

3. Second Hand Smoke Affects Children and Newborns
Cigarette smoke Contains 4,000+ chemicals and small particulates, and a good amount of them still get out of your lungs and get inhaled by nearby people. Second hand smoke not only causes cancer, but stunts growth in children and produce birth defects in newborns. In fact, inhaling second hand smoke is deadlier than smoking the actual cigarette. The reason is that cigarette smoke contains free radicals, which induce cellular damage and cause cancer. Because second hand smoke is lower in temperature, the free radicals adhere to the lung tissue better and inflict greater damage to the victims.

4. Cigarettes Stain Teeth
Among the substances in cigarette smoke is the tar and other particulates. These things stick to your teeth and gradually discolor them.

5. Cigarettes Accelerate the Aging Process
Aging is a process of gradual cellular deterioration. Because the chemicals in cigarette also inflict cellular damage, smoking compounds the aging effects. Cigarettes essentially accelerate this natural process and make you a lot older than you actually are.

For most smokers, the best thing they can do in order to improve the quality of their life and those of their loved ones is to take the big step of quitting smoking. It isn’t easy though, but it isn’t impossible to achieve either. All you have to do is get your facts straight. It help to know what you’re going to be against if you decide to stop the habit and knowing what to do and where to get help is very vital in your fight against smoking.

What makes it so hard to quit smoking? Why is it that when smokers try to stop smoking, they end up going back to the habit even if they have only stopped doing it for a few days? The answer to all these queries is found inside the cigarette, an ingredient called nicotine. Unfortunately, nicotine is a natural component of tobacco and as tobacco is in cigarettes, you really can’t escape it every time you smoke. Another fact worth note taking is that nicotine is highly addictive- as addictive as cocaine or heroin.

This is why a person has to deal with the physical and mental dependence on nicotine once they smoke. This highly addictive element gets into the body when the smoke coming from the cigarette is inhaled into the lungs. From there, it gets absorbed in the bloodstream and goes into the different parts of the body like the blood vessels and even in the heart. Your hormones, metabolism, and your brain then gets affected which could bring changes in your body. Even at pregnancy stage, nicotine can penetrate the mucus in a female’s cervix and can then be freely found in umbilical cords of newborn infants!

This is the very reason why quitting smoking for most smokers is very hard as nicotine brings about pleasant sensations in the brain and in the body that a person smoking would want to smoke again and again. When the nervous system starts to adapt with the nicotine in the system, people who smoke usually increase the amount of cigarettes they consume. In turn, this results to increasing the levels of nicotine in the bloodstream which after a while may make a person develop a tolerance for it. This means that it would now take a lot more nicotine to get the effect that smokers used to get from just small amounts. Naturally, this would mean an increase in smoking until a certain level of nicotine is reached and this level is now what the smoker has to maintain in his system.

It always is a wonder to me how people find smoking fascinating. I always thought it was more than that. There are reasons that people throw at me and some of them, no matter how sensible they think it is; doesn’t seem to appeal to my interest. Thus, I’ve never smoked a stick in my entire life and I’m proud to say it. I know for a fact that smoking is never good to a person’s body but I never think ill of people who smoke. Just because a person smokes, doesn’t mean that there is nothing good about them any longer.

A better way to let these people know that they are special as everyone else is to help them quit their smoking habit. Smoking is never healthy for anybody. Even the companies that manufacture cigarettes and tobaccos still give emphasis through a disclaimer that smoking is never good for anyone’s health. To set the record straight, smoking develops later on to a serious lung disease called lung cancer. If this doesn’t alarm any bell, nothing will and smoking will never be removed from your system.

Being addicted to smoking has negative effects already to your body, how more so, the act of smoking itself? The two are different, in a way that being addicted to smoking is already the after effect of it and yet, being addicted to it still has its own sub-categories of disadvantages. As for the act of smoking, it leads to ailments that are purely caused by the act itself.

If you value your health while you are young, you will never have to worry about any regrets in your later years. Smoking doesn’t only affect the lungs; but it also has negative effects to other parts of the body. An extremely scary fact is that, smoking has a tremendous effect on the skeletal system. The bones make our every movement possible but slowly, it increases the risk of fracture while decreasing bone density and the body’s rate of natural way to heal itself.

Smoking brings about so many negative effects physically. Help a friend from acquiring a grave sickness in the future.

Today there are 5 million tobacco-related deaths per year, with 1.3 billion people who smoke, and tobacco is the leading cause of death that can be preventable according to the World Health Organization. A thing that used to considered “cool”, such as the Marlboro billboards across the country, is now on the tip list of killers.

To combat this, the stop smoking injection, or the stop smoking vaccine, is one of the most successful and aggressive stop smoking aids with a 70-80% success rate of all the available smoking aids. A medical therapy, this type of aid takes place in a medical clinic under experienced physicians with supervision. Counseling and group therapy also work well to combine with the injection aid for smokers who are struggling to successfully quit.

Three injections of Scopolamine or Atropine behind the ears, on the hip, or on the arms, will block the nicotine receptors in the brain. As a part of the treatment, the patient is required to wear a scopolamine patch behind his ear and take atropine tablets for two weeks after getting the shot. The brain will not recognize that it needs nicotine so the nicotine addiction will eventually vanish – as an antismoking aid, these injection chemicals act on the nicotine “sensitive” areas of the brain and reduces the craving for a smoke. A single session may last from an hour to an hour and a half and costs approximately 350-500 dollars, but it usually is covered by health insurance policies.

The drugs involved with the stop smoking injections are medically classified as anti-cholinergics and are mainly used in helping to control neural activity in the brain. They have been extensively used previously in the medical field in the form of anesthetics during surgery or as a temporary means of curing Parkinson’s disease. The most common side effects associated with these anti-smoking injections are dizziness, dry mouth, headaches, and problems in urinating which happens soon after the injection is given, if it happens at all.

Long-term effects include hallucination, strokes, and heart attacks. However, these are rare, and are usually observed only in those smokers who are subjected to high dosages. In extreme cases, the person can also end up in coma. A smoker needs to undergo a complete medical check up before treatment. However, this treatment should be avoided for pregnant women or those who suffer from cardiac disorders. People who are using other narcotics also should avoid the anti-smoking injections also. If nothing else is working for you, you should try the injections for quitting smoking before going back to smoking, as your health is very important.

I also had about two to three shots of vodka right before I smoked. I had about four or five long pulls of the marijuana that I held in for a long time. I would start laughing uncontrollably and then crying uncontrollably and I felt like I couldn’t breathe.. e.t.c.

Almost everybody knows that smoking is bad for the health. Images of blackened lungs line school hallways and hospital waiting rooms, but despite this people continue to take up smoking. This may have to do with the pervasive romantic image of smoking — an image that has nothing in common with reality.

There are many ways to take tobacco. You can chew it, inhale it through the nose, and smoke it in the form of cigars or cigarettes. No matter how it is taken it is dangerous, but because smoking is the most popular way to consume tobacco it has also received the greatest attention from the medical field and the media.

When a smoker inhales a puff of cigarette smoke, the large surface area of the lungs allows nicotine to pass into the blood stream almost immediately. It is this nicotine “hit” that smokers crave, but there is a lot more to smoke than just nicotine. In fact, there are more than 4000 chemical substances that make up cigarette smoke and many of them are toxic. http://www.infozabout.com
http://www.smoking.infozabout.com

Cigarette smoke is composed of 43 carcinogenic substances and more than 400 other toxins that can also be found in wood varnish, nail polish remover, and rat poison. All of these substances accumulate in the body and can cause serious problems to the heart and lungs.

Cancer is the most common disease associated with smoking. Smoking is the cause of 90% of lung cancer cases and is related to 30% of all cancer fatalities. Other smoking-related cancers include cancers of the mouth, pancreas, urinary bladder, kidney, stomach, esophagus, and larynx.

Besides cancer, smoking is also related to several other diseases of the lungs. Emphysema and bronchitis can be fatal and 75% of all deaths from these diseases are linked to smoking.

Smokers have shorter lives than non-smokers. On average, smoking takes 15 years off your life span. This can be explained by the high rate of exposure to toxic substances which are found in cigarette smoke.

Smokers also put others at risk. The dangers of breathing in second-hand smoke are well known. Smokers harm their loved ones by exposing them to the smoke they exhale. All sorts of health problems are related to breathing in second-hand smoke. Children are especially susceptible to the dangers of second-hand smoke because their internal organs are still developing. Children exposed to second-hand smoke are more vulnerable to asthma, sudden infant death syndrome, bronchitis, pneumonia, and ear infections.

Smoking can also be dangerous for unborn children. Mothers who smoke are more likely to suffer from miscarriages, bleeding and nausea, and babies of smoking mothers have reduced birth weights or may be premature. These babies are more susceptible to sudden infant death syndrome and may have lifelong health complications due to chest infections and asthma.

It is never too late to give up smoking, even those who have smoked for 20 years or more can realize tremendous health benefits from giving up the habit.

I cant stop thinking about the pot and my head feels like it is full of pressure and I am riddled with anxiety. I also have a hard time making small talk with people and I dont want to look people in the eye or smile. I really get irritated when people make little comments that arent funny.
