International Oddities, an influential player in the tobacco, cigarette, cigar and smoking industries, has created and initiated the legal buds industry. While many of its competitors are still struggling to develop comparable products, the company has dozens of herbal legal buds products on the market. Because of the increasing pressure to make tobacco illegal worldwide, countries such as Amsterdam have utilized the nicotine & tobacco-free herbal smoke options available.

Whether someone purchases from a large smoke shop chain or from the company itself, customers can expect a superior quality smoking experience. Legal buds are purchased with a vacuum-packed can that makes the product remain fresh for longer than usual smoke shop products. With a peek-a-bud window in their “Freshpack Rolling Kit”, customers can see the bud they can purchase beforehand. Also, with a retracting rolling tray and built-in rolling papers, the customer can smoke almost immediately and anywhere they want after purchasing. This convenience makes International Oddities popular with savvy style-conscious customers.

International Oddities is also popular with smokers and non-smokers alike. Because of their herbal tobacco alternatives, many individuals are attracted to the products due to the availability to smoke in peace with no legal hassles involved. Many individuals ask, “Do legal buds get you high?” The answer is twofold. While these products will provide a calming and relaxing effect, no marijuana is found in these herbal smokes products so legal marijuana would not be a coined phrase.

While intriguing to smokers of all ages, retail shop markets find these products even more appealing. Because of their high quality impression on new and old customers alike, this keeps business flowing for these shops with repeat customers and sales occurring daily. Many stores name IO’s products as the only good herbal smoke products to sell in their stores.

Creating herbal smoke products decades before any other smoke company, International Oddities is a leading retailer for herbal smoke options whether in stores or on the Web. Even Hollywood has caught up with the trend of these smoking products. Interestingly enough, Seth Rogan was seen smoking an International Oddities product on the MTV music awards. While many believed this was a joint, it was an herbal smoke product among IO’s collection. Other Hollywood movies or television shows using their products include: CSI, True Blood, Pineapple Express, and Crash with Dennis Hopper and My Name Is Earl along with countless others.

To what do we attribute the appeal of these products? Most often it’s the unique “otherworldly” smoking experience and the non-tobacco aspect. This herbal smoke alternative is truly supreme, and enjoyed by smokers and previous nonsmokers worldwide. International Oddities continues to impress the world with its legal buds products and revolutionary mark it has left on the cigar, cigarette and tobacco industries.

Before the Baby Boomer period, no one was convinced that a each cigarette smoked puts the smoker one step closer to lung cancer. It was only in the period between 1946 and 1964 that experts were able to find conclusive evidence linking lung cancer to cigarette smoking.

The years following the boomer age saw the rise of anti-smoking campaigns and today, anti-smoking initiatives are still imposed at an accelerated pace.

According to the National Cancer Institute, cigarette smoking is the main culprit in 87 percent of lung cancer deaths and even plays a significant role in the development of cancers of the larynx, esophagus, bladder, oral cavity and pharynx. Not only that, smoking also increases the risk of suffering from cervical, stomach, kidney, pancreatic, and cervical cancers.

Nonsmokers are also at high-risk because secondhand smoking causes an estimated 3,000 lung cancer deaths among American nonsmokers. Children may also develop respiratory illness due to secondhand smoking and this sends a clear message to parents and guardians to be wary of their habits before it hits their loved ones.

There are more than 60 harmful elements that are known to cause cancer in tobacco smoke and a thousand other chemical agents. Smokers, already wary of the perils of their smoking habit, often seek the help of professionals and are advised to cease the act to decrease the risk of lung and other cancers, stroke, chronic lung disease, and even heart attack.

Stopping the deadly habit has immediate positive effects for both genders and all ages as it immediately begins to reduce the risk of lung and other cancers previously mentioned. Research has shown that the sooner the person quits, the more favorable is the effect. For instance, those who quit before they reach the age of 50 cut off their risk of getting cancer in the following 15 years as compared to those who still continue smoking.

I started smoking when I was in high school. It was the cool thing to do and the hardest habit to break. I finally quit when I wanted to get pregnant. I am reminded of how prevalent smoking was when I watch Mad Men, one of my favorite TV shows that takes place in the 50s. Man, we really thought we looked good as we were killing ourselves!

How old were you when you started smoking pot?

February 24th, 2010

Sitting here thinking about my first time. I was 14 and all I could remember was that everything was so damn funny. Eleven years later and I’m so damn paranoid. Can anyone relate to their first time and how much marijuana has changed?

February 24th, 2010

I also had about two to three shots of vodka right before I smoked. I had about four or five long pulls of the marijuana that I held in for a long time. I would start laughing uncontrollably and then crying uncontrollably and I felt like I couldn’t breathe.. e.t.c.

Few things in life are as difficult as stopping smoking. The tobacco addiction has been compared to heroin addiction, though I have talked to counselors who work with heroin addicts and smokers and they have assured me that tobacco addiction, while strong, is not really as powerful or difficult to manage as heroin addiction. But one thing both addictions have in common, in fact, that all addictions have in common, is that once a human being is addicted to a substance, the addiction, though it may be managed, lasts for a life time. So if you are a smoker today you will be a smoker for life. You may stop smoking for years, but if you start to smoke, thinking you will smoke occasionally, then you will soon find yourself right back where you started, wishing you had never tried to smoke a little. It is the same as if you were managing an alcohol addiction, a reformed alcoholic can’t take “just one drink,” and a reformed smoker can’t take “just one puff.”

The worst part of stopping smoking is the immediate withdrawal symptoms which may vary from person to person, but are found in almost every incidence of smoking cessation. The first 72 hours are the critical hours when smokers find it the hardest to stick with the stop smoking plan. Therefore, it is important to look ahead and make plans for how you will deal with the symptoms. That should be the first step in your stop smoking program. Ask yourself, “What will I do if I crave a cigarette?” If there are times when you are more likely to smoke, like after a meal, while driving, while out drinking with friends, for instance, then you should plan ahead and think of ways to deal with those situations. Having a clear plan that you can fall back on will make your chances of quitting a lot better.

The old saying, “Those who fail to plan, plan to fail,” certainly applies to many misguided attempts to stop smoking. One mistake that smokers often make is thinking that they will think of something creative when the time comes to deal with a strong urge to smoke, or they ignore that possibility and disregard the danger of giving in to the urge to smoke. If you don’t manage your smoking habit, then your smoking habit will soon be managing you. Isn’t that what has been happening all along?

Very few people manage to stop smoking on their first try. It often takes several attempts before the smoker successfully handles the addiction. The reason for this is twofold. First, when you first try to stop smoking you don’t know exactly what to expect. You may have heard other people talk about their attempts and experiences, but since no two people are exactly alike, you still don’t know for sure how your attempts to stop smoking will feel or affect you. Secondly, since you don’t know what it feels like to stop smoking it is difficult to plan ahead for ways that you will deal with cravings and other urges that may occur.

Once you have attempted to stop smoking a few times you will know how your body reacts to nicotine deprivation and the psychological affect of giving up smoking. So it is wise to consider each attempt, whether completely successful or not, as a positive step toward stopping smoking. The first few attempts are trial runs, training efforts, and learning experiences. Each experience, no matter how painful or frustrating, can be looked at as a valuable lesson and that will help to relieve the frustration and disappointment of a failed attempt.

Another valuable resource that should not be overlooked is the advice of people who have been able to stop smoking and professional counselors who help with addictions. Their advice and support can help you to avoid some of the pitfalls. When you decide to stop smoking you are making one of the biggest and potentially life saving decisions of your life, so using every possible aid at your disposal makes good sense. It all starts with a good plan.

I smoked some pot with my friends for the first time…. Why? because I’m an idiot. It was a mistake and we all make them. Anyways im experiencing some irritation in my skin. Here is the deal

Thursday night – smoked maybe 2 hits, then 2 hours later received what looked like a bug bite on my face
Friday morning – hands and big toe were swollen, but bug bite is gone
Friday night – swollen hands are gone and the big toe is going away
Saturday – I start to itch so i scratch and receive what looks like bumps and rashes wherever i scratch
Sunday – don’t scratch, dont itch, nothing happens
Today – itch so i scratch and receive the same thing that happened Saturday
I smoked outside of a hotel, where the weather was about 15 degrees. So its highly unlikely it was a real bug bite. I’m not freaked out, but wouldnt the doctor tell my parents?
Any chance it will go away in a couple days?

www.shcri.com — From January to June of 2009, China sold 23.889 million chests of cigarettes (1.19445 trillion cigarettes) in total, rising by 3.6% YOY. In the first half of 2009, Chinese cigarette sales volume was increased by 841,000 chests (42.05 billion cigarettes) YOY. Compared with the same period of the last year, the growth volume was reduced by 51,000 chests and the growth rate was reduced by 0.5%. Compared with the same period of 2007, the growth volume was reduced by 481,000 chests and the growth rate was reduced by 2.8%. Comparing the historical data of the same period in recent years, the growth trend of stable slowdown of the cigarette sales volume has been obvious and the growth rate of the sales volumes has been slower than the structure upgrading rate.

In the first half of 2009, China exported 54,700 tons of tobaccos, rising by 10.84% YOY. China exported 6.394 billion of cigarettes, rising by 35.87% YOY. Cigarettes produced by enterprises abroad and Sino-foreign cooperation were 8.71 billion, rising by 40.4% YOY. The sales volume was 9.24 billion, rising by 55.9% YOY. The total value of import and export tobacco products was 1.22 billion USD, rising by 46% YOY. The total export value was 398 million USD, rising by 40.33% YOY.

In the first half of 2009, Chinese important cigarette brands remained increasing rapidly. The sales volume of 30 important brands was 12.7133 million chests (635.665 billion cigarettes), rising by 1.8997 million chests (94.985 billion cigarettes) and by 17.35% YOY. This was higher than the national average growth rate by 17.35%. The sales proportion reached 53.49%, rising by 5.68% YOY. The sales revenues of 30 important brands reached 275.22 billion RMB (41.078 billion USD), rising by 46.05 billion RMB YOY and by 20.1%, which was higher than the national average growth rate by 7.33%.

In the first half of 2009, the concentration ratio of Chinese cigarette brands was enhanced. From January to June, among the national important brands, the sales volume of Baisha, Hongtashan and Honghe exceeded 1 million chests (50 billion cigarettes) each. The sales volume of Hongmei, Huangguoshu, Double Happiness, Yun Yan and Huangshan exceeded 700,000 chests (35 billion cigarettes) each. The sales concentration ration of the top 10 brands (based on sales volumes) reached 68.57%. Among the first-class cigarette brands, the top five brands (based on sales volumes) were Furongwang, Chunghwa, Yuxi, Huanghelou and Liqun with the sales concentration ratio of 73.89%. Among the second-class cigarette brands, the top 5 brands with largest sales volumes were Liqun, Qipilang, Huangshan, Pride and Nanjing with the sales concentration ratio of 82.15%. Among the third-class cigarette brands, the top 5 brands with largest sales volumes were Hongtashan, Double Happiness, Yun Yan, Baisha and Red Double Happiness with the sales concentration ratio of 65.59%.

In the first half of 2009, the growth rates of Diamond, Pride and Hongtashan, whose YOY growth rates of sales volumes were the largest among Chinese important cigarette brands, were 66.02%, 63.30% and 32.66% separately. The growth rates of 15 brands were lower than the average level. Among them, the growth rates of Suyan, Haomao and Golden Bridge were less than 10%; the growth rates of Hongmei and Zhenlong were reduced by 7.51% and 1.6% YOY separately. Though the entire industry remains growing rapidly, some core brands have slowed down their developing steps.

Chinese central and western areas and other backward regions have become the main increasing areas for Chinese cigarette sales. Stimulated by the enhancement of the west development policy by Chinese government and affected by the financial crisis and home returns of rural labors, Sichuan, Henan and Hebei became the three regions with the highest growth rates of Chinese cigarette sales volumes in the first half of 2009. Tibet, Guizhou and Sichuan became the three regions with the largest growth rates of cigarette sales amount, which was quite different from the previous years. Among the 18 provinces whose growth rates were lower than Chinese average level, most provinces were in the east coasts and developed regions.

Currently, the focus on the brand competition in Chinese cigarette market has been changed. With the improvement of the cigarette consumption level and the readjustment of the cigarette price class, the market with the emerging price range where the retail prices are 70 RMB (10.2 USD) per 200 cigarettes, 150 RMB (22 USD) per 200 cigarettes, 170 RMB (24.8 USD) per 200 cigarettes and 300 RMB (43.8 USD) per 200 cigarettes is expanding and more and more brands are joining this market to improve both the sales scale and the product structure.

February 19th, 2010

I was sixteen, and enamored with the idea of beatniks, and I wanted to identify with them. I fantasized about hanging out in coffee houses, reading and writing poetry in some frenzied inspiration, being an artist and casually puffing away at a cigarette. I had been doing water colors all afternoon on the porch pretending I was one such artist. It occurred to me that it would be easy to reach into a drawer where my parents kept their cigarettes and grab a pack. They shared the same brand, so I assumed it would be easy for them to lose count of exactly how many were there.

Upstairs, I locked the bathroom, opened the windows and sat on the toilet seat. I lit one. I couldn’t really believe I was doing it. In my whole 16 years of life I had felt nothing but disgust for my parent’s dirty habit, and here I was doing the same thing. It tasted weird. I wondered how you were supposed to inhale. It seemed awkward and foreign to my sensibilities when I held it to my face with the smoke curling into my eyes. Very tentatively I sucked on the tip. Instantly I felt dizzy and my chemistry changed.

I told myself that “Well, that was fun, so now I know. I don’t need this in my life,” and I dismissed it . The next day, right around the same time, I got to thinking it would feel good to do it again. This time, I locked the bedroom door and lay down so that I wouldn’t get so dizzy. By the third and fourth day, I told myself, “I can’t believe this is happening.”

My body and emotions had begun to crave these little smoking sessions. It had nothing to do with my social life, it was just my own secret “feel good” thing. It gave me something to look forward to each day. Soon, I began having two of these sessions per day, and then three or more. I did not actually introduce it into my social life until the following year when I went to college and spotted a cigarette machine selling them for 35 cents a pack. I thought, “Wow. I’m grown up now. I am being told that it is an okay thing for me to do and I don’t have the humiliation of sneaking them any more.”

I was launched.
